Don't miss this special edition of Sunday-@-the-Segal as we welcome one
of Canada’s most popular jazz vocalists and recording artists, Ranee Lee.
CBC Radio's Patti Schmidt, host of the popular weekend program, Cinq à
Six, will be in conversation with Ms Lee in advance of the opening of The
Satchmo' Suite - a musical play about the relationship between a modern-day
black classical cellist and the 'Father of Jazz' himself, Louis Armstrong.
Ranee Lee has performed with many of the greatest names in jazz. An award winning
actress, she starred in Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill and
in Having Our Say at The Segal Theatre. Also a respected faculty member
at Laval and McGill universities, she received the Outstanding Service to Jazz
Education award from the International Association of Jazz Educators. Other
awards to her credit include Top Canadian Female Jazz Vocalist, presented by
Jazz Report magazine and Best Female Jazz Vocalist from the AFIM. In February
of this year she was given Canada’s highest civilian honour and invested
as a Member of the Order of Canada.
