The Segal excitedly welcomes internationally renowned Errol Durbach, who will
speak about legendary Norwegian playwright, Henrik Ibsen and the forthcoming Leanor
and Alvin Segal Theatre production of his masterpiece, A Doll House.
Durbach is Professor of Theatre Studies at the University of British Columbia
and the author of many articles on modern and comparative drama. His publications
on the plays of Henrik Ibsen include Ibsen the Romantic and A Doll’s
House: Ibsen’s Myth of Transformation, as well as his verse translation
and adaptation of Peer Gynt, which was first staged in Vancouver in 1999
and traveled to the Peer Gynt Festival in Vinstra a year later. He is
currently the President of the International Ibsen Committee and co-editor of
the Modern Drama special issue commemorating the centenary of Ibsen’s
death.
