“I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read in the train.”

A 19th century comedy of manners in which two friends, Jack and Algernon, create fictitious alter egos. Both pretend to be the black sheep Ernest. They are in love with Gwendolen and Cecily, two young ladies who both want to marry a man named Ernest. Mistaken identities and hilarious quips create one of the great English comedies as everyone tries to find, or be, or not be, “Earnest.”
