CBC Radio One presents
Sunday-@-the Saidye
with Robert Adams

October 10, 2004

Montreal, September 2004 - The award-winning Leanor and Alvin Segal Theatre of the Saidye Bronfman Centre for the Arts proudly welcome Robert Adams, acclaimed literary reviewer, to the inaugural 88.5 CBC Radio One Presents Sunday-@-The Saidye. Adams will speak about the novelist Miguel de Cervantes and his masterpiece, Don Quixote, on Sunday, October 10, 2004 at 11 A.M. at the Leanor and Alvin Segal Theatre, 5170 Cote-Ste-Catherine Road. Admission is free.

Welsh-born teacher, writer and critic, Robert Adams gives an annual series of critically acclaimed book reviews on stage in both Montreal and Toronto. He has been profiled several times on television and his lectures are regularly telecast on TV Ontario’s Big Ideas. His biography of painter Alexander Bercovitch was short-listed for the 1988 QSPELL Award. His collection of lectures, A Love of Reading was a national best seller and the sequel, A Love of Reading: The Second Collection was shortlisted for the 2003 Mavis Gallant Award for Non-Fiction.

The popular Sunday-@-the Saidye discussion series began three seasons ago in order to enhance the audience’s theatre-going experience. The public attends these programmes in ever-growing numbers as playwrights, directors, designers, radio-personalities, historians and even scientists provide a background to the plays throughout the season.

For the 2004-05 season a new partnership has been created with 88.5 CBC Radio One to lend greater prestige to an event growing ever more popular in the public’s eye. As such, this season provides an opportunity for audiences to be part of a nationally broadcast program.
