LUCIOLES AND KINO COLLECTIVES UNDER THE STARS
Thursday, July 17, from 8 to 11 pm
(or July 24 in case of rain)

Corn on the cob + gin & tonics
Videos + shorts
Activist docs + fiction

Les Lucioles is a videoactivist collective that provides an alternative perspective to the narrow view provided by the mainstream media, which is too closely tied to financial and political decisions to report information in a non-partisan way. The collective does not feign objectivity. It proudly engages itself to denounce injustices and to defend a just and equitable vision of the world.

The KINO movement was born in Montreal in January of 1999. The challenge? All members must produce one film per month, to then present them monthly in unusual screening settings like bars, lofts or under the stars. The leitmotiv: do well with nothing, do better with little and do it now. Since then the philosophy had remained the same, even though the formula has changed. Since 2002, ten new KINO groups have sprouted in five different countries.
