The Segal Centre for Performing Arts welcomes Eurofest
September 2008

Eastern European films to be highlighted at the Segal Centre's new CinemaSpace

Montreal, August 2008 – The Segal Centre for Performing Arts is proud to announce a first ever partnership with Association Rocade in presenting the festival of Eastern European Films as part of the second Annual Eurofest, with screenings September 23-25th at the Segal Centre’s CinemaSpace.

"We're honoured to be a part of Eurofest for its second big year,” said Ezra Soiferman, Director of CinemaSpace. “We look forward to sharing these excellent films with our audiences who have come to expect high quality cinema in our intimate, state-of-the-art screening room."

CinemaSpace is a digital screening room and multi-function venue featuring surround-sound and 77 seats covered in hemp eco-fabric, CinemaSpace is Montreal's brand new boutique arts venue featuring new independent films, classics on 16mm and collaborations with local film festivals.

Eurofest will present various projects by filmmaker from Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Canada, Croatia, Estonia, the United States, Georgia, Great Britain, Holland, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldavia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine and Turkey. The program will be made up of current feature films and short documentaries.

The Segal Centre for Performing Arts was officially inaugurated this past August 19th at a Gala ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by Isabelle Hudon, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal; Simon Brault, President, Culture Montreal; and in the presence of Mr. Alvin and Leanor Segal; Mayor Gerald Tremblay; Christine St. Pierre, Minister of Culture and Communications, Quebec; Raymond Bachand, Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade, Minister of Tourism, Quebec. The Centre is committed to actively support emerging professional artists and to develop innovative programming to foster the creativity and interest of our community’s youth in the performing arts. The Centre is built upon five pillars: The Leanor and Alvin Segal Theatre; The Dora Wasserman Yiddish Theatre; The Studio; The Academy of Performing Arts and CinemaSpace.

All Eurofest shows at CinemaSpace take place at 7pm and 9pm from September 23-25. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling the Segal Centre’s box office at 514-739-7944. Call to reserve as seating is limited. Tickets also available at Admission.com.
