The Academy is a part of the new Segal Centre for Performing Arts, where students
are inspired to be the artists of the future with an emphasis on innovation and
individual creative expression. The instructors at the Academy are professionals
in their fields, hand-picked among the best performers, educators and artists
in Montréal and internationally.

Theatre Performance
Geared towards children and teens these innovative and unique courses are designed
to introduce the young actor to the art of theatre in a professional setting.
Courses will develop self-esteem, improve social interaction and stimulate self-expression.
Theatre Production
Providing training in all aspects of performing arts production and technology
to individuals interested in working in the performing arts industry. For Winter
2008, the production program will hold occasional workshops and offer internships
and apprenticeships on a case by case basis.
Music
Dedicated to enriching the lives of young people through listening, playing,
and music history. The program includes instrumental group lessons in saxophone,
drums, bass and electric guitar as well as a vocal component. Students are introduced
to basic techniques on the instrument of their choice and are encouraged to
use their newly developed skills to write their own compositions and explore
various styles of music.
Circus Arts
Offering a unique opportunity to youth, families and professionals to learn
the basics of circus arts. Participants are introduced to techniques designed
to help them develop their coordination, concentration, and motor skills. Youth
programs are presented in a spirit of play. Balance exercises, clowning and
juggling are among many of the skills taught that encourage teamwork, self-esteem
and imagination.
Media Workshop
This state of the art program serves to educate youth in video production and
media literacy. Instructors are experienced filmmakers who engage participants
by presenting innovative, independent films and videos that will inspire them
to challenge convention and create their own unique world-views.
